A sculpture of a sprat has been installed at the corner of Jomas and Kaudzišu Streets in Jūrmala. The sprat is a small but significant fish of the Baltic Sea and a national symbol of Latvia, reflecting the country's rich fishing tradition and connection to the sea.
The sprat figure has been crafted with special attention: its silvery body shines with a diamond-shaped pattern, and its fins and tail are gracefully curved, as if the fish has been caught in motion. The sprat holds a glowing piece of amber in its mouth — a symbol of happiness in Latvian culture. The warm golden hue of the amber contrasts beautifully with the metallic sheen of the fish, creating a harmony of natural beauty and cultural pride in Jūrmala.
